Mel & Jen are such a gorgeous couple! Having met up with them more than a year ago in Costa Coffee (as I do with most couples) - we clicked straight away and started chatting about their wedding day from the word go! The venue was Leasowe Castle on the Wirral - a venue that has undergone extensive refurbishment to make it one of the areas leading venues and the ceremony room "The Keep" is exquisite.
Ahead of their wedding, we did a pre-wedding shoot at the Albert Dock in Liverpool - and I knew after an hour with these two that we'd be having a great day in April! Both Mel & Jen are very relaxed and personable. They are such a great match and bounce off each other through their humour and clear adoration for one another. On the morning of the wedding, I initially met up with Mel & her bridesmaids in the hotel, followed by Jen and her brother in the castle Suite of the hotel. I really enjoy this part of the day, as there's so much anticipation, excitement and (sometimes!) nerves - but I just allow the girls to do their own things, laugh, panic...whatever, it all looks great through the lens.
The ceremony was gorgeous - the 'keep' was full of natural light and the registrar had both Mel & Jen laughing their way through the vows! Afterwards we headed outside for some great group shots, before a sumptuous wedding breakfast and absolutely hilarious wedding speeches - especially from Jen's brother! The tale of their first date was brilliant!
As the wedding was later in the day, darkness fell after the speeches - but I used the ambient candlelight in the chapel and some light off-camera flash for portrait shots before everyone headed to the dance floor to have a proper ball!
It was superb to have met & worked with both of these beautiful ladies and I'm really proud to show you just a small selection of their day below. Enjoy!
